I live near the South Downs in the UK which is a great place to walk the dog.
I want to walk the length of the South Downs Way but not in one go due to time constraints, weather, the dog’s and my ability.
I thought I’d break it down into manageable chunks so that it’s possible to drive and park easily, enjoy the walk and get back in a reasonable time.
Here you’ll find a guide to some of those walks along the South Downs.
I’ve always been a fan of a map and compass either physically or incorporated into a handheld piece of tech. I use the Memory Map app on my mobile phone through which I have bought a copy of Ordnance Survey’s 1:25,000 Explorer maps (2016 vintage) for the whole of the UK.
Each route will be available for download as a GPX file which can be imported into most map apps and software.
Please note that I am NOT sponsored by nor affiliated with Memory Map or Ordnance Survey. I have used them for a long time and like to use them. Also, even though the maps are from 2016, I have found there not to have been much change (if any) in the areas walked.
For me, part of the fun of writing this blog is the software development aspect. I’ve chosen Bootstrap for the styling and templating and Jekyll for the delivery of the website as a set of static webpages. This has enabled me to focus on delivering the content rather than being bogged down in the technicalities.
